One year!!

My baby just turned one! I can't even believe how fast time slips away in that first year of life. I wanted him to have a puppy cake since he reminds me of a little puppy. When I give him kisses, he licks my face, he crawls behind me following through the house, he lights up when you walk into the room, and of course he is so sweet.
The cake is confetti cake with sugar-free butter cream frosting. The puppy is make of fondant and the dog house is made of rice cereal and covered in fondant.

Super Hero Cake

This cake was for my oldest son's 5th birthday. He couldn't decide which super hero he wanted to highlight so we did his top 3 faves! Since he is a super kid, I added a Super Carson flying aroud the top. His only complaint about his cake was it was too small. I guess next year I'll "Super" size it :)
The bottom layer is a dummy cake, the middle tier is chocolate with chocolate frosting, and the top is made of rice cereal. The buildings on the top are made of gum paste.

Baby Noah

,cMy friend asked me to make a cake for her good friend who has recently had a baby. She is a zoologist by profession and named her sweet boy Noah. So of course a Noah's Ark cake is the most logical thing I can think of. This is the most detail I've ever put into a cake and it took me about 8-9 hours, but I think it was worth it. I really liked the way it turned out.
The top layer is made out of Rice Cereal and the bottom is a yellow cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. The animals are made out of gum paste and everything else is Wilton fondant.

Who ya gonna call?

Not me if you want a Ghostbusters Cake!
I am clearly a novice and this cake is proof. The more cakes I make, the more I wonder why. I'm not having a pity part, but I'm just not that great. I am really great at being creative and coming up with grand ideas, but my execution isn't something to sing about in the streets. I love doing it though so I will continue, practice, and get better.
Anywho, my friend's son had a Ghostbusters themed party. I could've made it all out of fondant, but I wanted to challenge myself and do something different. I wanted the red sign to really pop so I used cherry Jello. I also wanted it to be dark behind the ghost so I used melted chocolate. I didn't leave myself any time for error so this is the result.

Superbowl 2011 Cake!!!

Can you guess who I am rooting for?

Let's be honest, here. I am not a big football watching kind of gal, but I love the Superbowl! It's like a holiday for me. You eat great snack food, you park your duff on the couch, you spontaneously either jump up and down or yell angrily, and my favorite, my husband will sit and snuggle with me for over 2 hours!!!
I decided to go for Greenbay because I assumed that's who my husband would want to win. Nt so much. Apparently, They are mortal enemies of the Vikings (Jake's team). Crap. Too bad, I was too excited about my cake to be switchig teams. So here it is, complete with a football playing and cheer leading mouse. Maybe my cake will convince Jake to switch sides?

Tea for 2!

For Liv's 2nd birthday we had a tea party, which is perfect for her. She likes to be pretty and eat lots of food! So this is the cake I made for her celebration we had for her when daddy came back into town. The tea set on top is made out of gum paste and painted with food coloring.

Colts Cake

Die Hard Fan Cake.
Our Cake.

For the Super Bowl I had a small party and so I thought it would be fun to serve a cake. We are not true blue Colts fans, but we are certainly not Saints fans, so I decided to make a Colts cake. Our friends are die hard fans so I also made them one to serve at their party. All the decor on the cake is made from fondant.

Bailey

My sweet niece, Bailey had her birthday a few weeks ago. For her party, her friends got to come over ad make a cute, little purse. My sis asked if I could come help the girls with the sewing machine and so I asked if I could also make a cake. Bailey loved it! I'm so glad that she was so excited about i and let me come!

Taylor

My friend 's daughter turned 16 and they made her party extra special for her. They had a Hawaiian theme with beach sheet cakes, tons of guests, authentic dancers, and good food. The birthday girl wanted her own personal cake and that's where I came in. Aloha!

Flip Flops

s

My cute neighbor girls had their birthdays very close together so I cranked out these babies. Their guests got to decorate their own pair of rubber flip flops and take home as party favors which was why this design was chosen.

Wii

This was the most difficult cake I've made yet. I have to admit it was a lot of fun to make just thinking about how excited the little birthday boy would be when he saw it. It took one sheet cake to make the system and even the remotes.I'd have to say the remote are my favorite.

Spearfisherman

My husband loves to spear fish. Him and his buddy try to go as much as we wives will let them. It's actually kind of a dangerous/adventurous hobby that has caused a lot of worry.... So for this certain buddy's birthday I made this one.

Coach

My neighbor is a little league baseball coach so I thought this would be fitting for his birthday!

Carson

Carson is my first born. He loves animals! For his birthday we took him to the zoo and I wanted a cake to contribute to the theme of the day. The elephant's face is just icing, but everything else is made from fondant.
